FAQS > Why read the Bible?

WHY READ THE BIBLE?

God Wants to Communicate with Us
How remarkable that the God of the universe would actually want to communicate with us! We are creatures of a material, physical world to which we relate through our five senses. God is a spiritual being. We in our physical state cannot see him, hear him, or touch him, so how can he communicate with us? The answer is through the Bible!

Over several centuries, God has inspired selected individuals to write down what we need to know about Him and what we must do in order to live forever with him in heaven.

The Bible Contains the Sacred Word of God
These writings have been collected in one place: the Holy Bible. Holy, because it contains the sacred words of almighty God. In a miraculous way, the Bible speaks to all of us in general and to each of us individually. Its truths apply across generations, across cultures, and across life experience because it was written by the One who created life itself.

Faithfully Preserved
The Bible has stood the test of time better than any other document in human history. It has been faithfully preserved because it is God's very words to us, and he will not let them disappear from the face of the earth or its truths be altered by human hands in any way.

For Best Results, Read the Bible DAILY
We read the Bible to learn about God and communicate with him. The best results will occur, if this is done daily. The more you read the Bible, the easier it will be to hear God when he speaks and to understand what God wants you to do. Began by setting your alarm an hour earlier each morning and spend that time with God in the Bible. Doing so will let God know you are serious about getting to know him!

Jesus Christ, Man of Prayer
Jesus viewed prayer as a source of spiritual strength and a reservoir of real refreshment. Even when he was very busy, he was never too busy to pray. In the Gospels, there are fifteen accounts of Jesus praying. Eleven are found in Luke's gospel. Why? The answer is that of the writers of the four Gospels, Luke focused most on the human aspect of Jesus. Luke wanted us to see that as a human leader, Jesus lived a life of prayer. Jesus was fully God and fully man. If Jesus, the human, needed time to pray, how much more do you and I?
